Marwan’s profile

Face_medium

Marwan Kanafani moved to New York City in the winter of 2005 with $80 in his pocket after spending 3 months in Beirut, Lebanon, connecting with his birthplace, hanging out with the PLO and Hezbollah, and writing political articles for the Washington Report. Having broken up his previous band of 5 years, San Francisco roots driven indie popsters Fojimoto, the last thing on his mind was wanting to be in another band, that is, until he met Arun Antonyraj. The mere fact that he met someone else with a weirder name that his was enough of a reason to entertain the idea of playing music again. It wasn’t long after the initial sessions at Arun’s Brooklyn apartment that City Breathing was formed. With the addition of multi-instrumentalist/rhythmic genius Ron Tucker, the band soon signed with burgeoning indie rock label Roses and Hello. With 10 years under his belt in California working in various capacities in the music industry, it made sense that Marwan would end up taking part in the day to day functioning of the label. Currently, Marwan resides in the ever-so-versatile position of “Artist Management” at R & H, booking shows, promoting, and being a part of a collective vision.
